Labeling resolved before the ship sailed

A Mexican toy importer had been surprised at the port before, when labeling and documents did not match what customs expected.

The challenge

With fourteen SKUs on one container, a labeling problem on a single item could hold the whole shipment at the port.

What GIS did

  • GIS reviewed quantities, documents and NOM labeling at the factory, once the goods were packed.
  • Three SKUs had incomplete labeling. The supplier corrected them on site, with photographic evidence.
  • The container was sealed and documented, and the file was handed to the customs agent.

The result

The issues were fixed before shipment, not at the port.

No observations were raised at customs on arrival.

This case is an illustrative example prepared to show how a program works. Real, client-approved cases will replace it.
